School-age Children

We offer before and after care for school-age bambini, meaning "children" in Italian. We welcome children from kindergarten through grade 4. Drop off begins at 6:30 AM and pick up is before 5:30 PM. Homework is completed at our center with guidance from our school age professionals. Children and educators construct knowledge together through exploration and problem solving. Opportunities for play and interaction are encouraged every day at our center.  It is not easy attending school all day and then spending time at a childcare center afterwards. We, at Hopwood Child Care, work together to provide structure within a loving, safe and welcoming environment. Even though the older children are not in the center all day, we still take the time to teach respect, value cultural diversity, develop social skills, and practice kindness. We also offer and promote new opportunities for school age children to explore at our Reggio Emilia-Inspired facility.  We encourage our school age children to foster creative expression, representation, and appreciation for the arts by getting involved in our curriculum. School age children are provided with age appropriate science/art materials, board games, and gross motor toys/equipment to get their bodies moving! Developing an enthusiasm for learning in young children is clearly one of the most important goals of any program.
