Our Community

"Creating community is not a lesson, it is a way of life."

Developing strong supportive relationships between school and family is an important priority in the Reggio Emilia approach.

In our center, we strive to build a sense of caring for each other by genuinely and lovingly inviting children to be a part of everything we do.

We guide our children to establish good citizenship habits, respect for themselves and for others. We also want children to take pride in their accomplishments in and out of the classroom.

Building a sense of community in our classrooms leads to greater success for each child by creating a sense of belonging, becoming a true member of a team, and feeling like someone of important value.

We encourage families to get involved too! Parents play an active role in their child’s learning experience and help ensure the welfare of all children in the school. Each family, for example, is invited to send in photos for us to post on our family tree. This gives children a sense of unity and helps them to connect to others.

Just like creating community in the classroom, we also get involved in local community activities, such as recycling, cleaning our land, collecting donations for the needy, welcoming community service workers, local Hopwood events, and more.

All of these activities and events encourage our students to embrace and celebrate diversity in school and in our world.
